ASHFORD MILL PHOTO

A single Hairy Desert Sunflower grows amid the Ashford Mill ruins in Death Valley National Park, California.

In 1914 gold ore was processed here for shipment to a smelter.  Surrounding the Mill are fields of Hairy Desert Sunflowers, often called Desert Gold.
