WOLVES KEEPING A CLOSE WATCH ON GRIZZLY PHOTO

The Grant Creek Pack had their two pups at a rendezvous site just up the hill from this photo.  This Grizzly got the attention of the wolves when he slowly feed his way down the river bed to a point near the pups.  As seen here, two of the wolves watched from the top of the bank as a third one went down to chase the Grizzly away.  I have watched other Grizzly's run from this pack (see our wolf page), this big guy seemed to barely notice the wolves presence.  Watching was interesting, it seemed the wolves did not know what to do with an animal that wouldn't run.  A second wolf joined the first one after awhile to no avail.  Ultimately, the bear feed has way down the valley and the wolves went back to their pups.
